EXTERIOR
The 2024 Lexus GX 550 has moved away from the softer styling graced by its predecessors, now boasting a bold, rugged, and commanding demeanor, good enough for people who like standing out and leaving a lasting impression. There are cars whose face value already lands you the contract in government or corporate companies because it sells trust, confidence, and a person who is capable of putting things together. The Lexus GX 550 belongs to the latter. This is Nairobi: hard work is good, but it becomes much better when accompanied by smart ways of doing things. One of them is driving this SUV. I know it is a liability, but a good liability that will grow your empire; pause and think.
Sweptback LED headlights and daytime running lights flank a chrome-accented or gloss black grille adorned with the legendary Lexus emblem stamping its authority whether driven in the leafy suburbs of Karen, Westlands, or Parklands. Subtle character lines on the side profile dilute the rigid conservatism as 19-inch alloy wheels inject maximum allure. The wheel arches are quite pronounced for a muscular look. The rear features a full-width LED light bar, distinctive LED tail lamps, a roof spoiler, and a power liftgate. To add wide body kits or carbon fiber accents, visit: SAFARI SPARES

INTERIOR & TECHNOLOGY
The 2024 Lexus GX 550 interior is what separates it from the rest. The build quality is highly revered, capable of taking away your stress after a busy day of work in Upperhill. The serenity inside is quite therapeutic to the extent that you don’t need a psychologist to counsel you. Driving from Nairobi to Nanyuki is enough to take away your depression.
Inside, you have a sunroof for an airy feel; politicians will maximize its use during the campaign period. The dashboard is nicely done, the ergonomics are on point. The seats are upholstered in fine leather and have heating & ventilation functions that make you enjoy a long-distance trip from Eldoret to Malaba. Because entertainment is important, you have a Mark Levinson sound system to vibe to Madilu Rhumba, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto to catch up on bearish and bullish stocks at the Nairobi Stock Exchange, and a dual-zone climate control to regulate the cabin temperature. The boot space is ample enough for one or two suitcases when going for a staycation in Diani over the weekend. If you have tons of freight to carry, you need to consider the Maxus T90.
PERFORMANCE: How Does it Handle Kenyan Roads?
The 2024 Lexus GX 550’s outstanding element is that it is quite versatile and adapts to any environment without sacrificing comfort and luxury for its occupants. The electronic kinetic dynamic suspension system (e-KDSS) is up to the task, providing unmatched comfort, perfectly absorbing road imperfections. If you reside in the interior parts of Naivasha where roads are in dilapidated condition, you have nothing to worry about.

As much as many Kenyans pamper the Lexus GX 550 as an urban car, off-roading is its cup of tea with or without sugar. Take it to the rocky terrain in Kajiado, or the muddy surface in the Aberdare Forest, or the hilly slopes of Mt. Elgon; this SUV is a master of its capabilities. It comes standard with 4WD, low-range gearing, multi-terrain select, crawl control, electronic locking differentials, and underbody protection. Adding mud-terrain or all-terrain tires from SAFAR SPARES completes its beastly nature. At this rate and with the mentioned features, the indomitable Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Series has been given a run for its money; only time will tell.
